Basic of Pistol Shooting course classroom will introduce students to the fundamentals of shooting: to include how to safely handle a firearm (semi-automatic and revolver), proper shooting stance, proper grip of a handgun, sight alignment/sight picture, ammunition types, proper selection of a handgun for the individual shooter and fundamentals of proper shooting. The class with give students the fundamentals to become a good and safe handgun shooter.
Range time will include implementing the fundamentals taught in the classroom, shooting a .22 pistol 30 rounds (provided), at least 1 hour with an instructor, how to safely handle a pistol, make a pistol safe, load a magazine, and load/unload a magazine into/from a handgun. Students are encouraged to bring their own handguns (students are responsible for their own ammunition 50 rounds min) for qualification but are welcome to use the handguns provided. Guns provided will be: .38 special revolver, Glock 19 9mm, .22 pistol, M&P 9 Shield 9mm, Berretta 9mm, and a 380-auto pistol. (ammunition will be available for purchase for guns provided)
Students are encouraged to bring their own hearing and eye protection; it will be provided if the student does not have any.
Students will be certified in NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting upon completion of the course:
Complete a fifty-question open book test
Complete shooting at least level 1 on the range 20 shots at 10ft
Cost is $150.00- includes range fees and .22 ammunition
Range Appropriate Attire: closed toe shoes, comfortable clothing, range is around 60 to 65 degrees.
